A group of pioneers set out on an ambitious journey west on the Santa Fe Trail. Led by Veteran wagon master Hob Matthew, along with Zeb Duncan and Rawhide Jackson, and by the expert guidance of Holt Ryer, who, raised by Indians, sharpened his instinct to remain alive in the adverse environment and the Indian way of life. Driven by a promise to an old friend, Holt sets out on a journey of friendship and adversity, tragedy and triumph. This bold undertaking would originate in Council Grove, Kansas in the early days of America through the grueling wilderness of the Santa Fe Trail. Together, they would lead the "greenhorns", despite the threat of Indian raids and entirely at the mercy of the often unforgiving weather of the American plains. The upcoming passage would prove be more a journey of endurance and self-discovery; of heartbreaking loss and blossoming love.
