When my mom died in 2013, I came across boxes and boxes of old photos and newspaper clippings, funeral cards and church cookbooks - all inherited from my Semerau grandparents. I recognized a few names and fewer still faces, but I knew my Semerau family was in those boxes, and I needed to know who they were.
