Heroin addiction is rampant in our society, as alcoholism has been all along, and since the family of the author has been touched by both, she finds it necessary to share the pain and struggle that go with these diseases, not only for the afflicted ones, but also for their families, for it is not only the afflicted one who suffers. Addiction, Fear, and Grace is a book of poetry which gives the reader a view into the mind and heart of an addict or alcoholic and also the minds and hearts of those who love them. The poems are poems of struggles and heartache, but there is room for hope, and the book ends with poems of healing and gratitude.
