What would you do if your boss called you into their office and demanded you do something crazy? For Julian, the answer is: not much. The Sparrow's Path tells the story of Julian, a millennial disillusioned with his family, friends, and career, who is faced with an impossible task from the overly ambitious CEO of the company he works for. But instead of working on the assignment, he decides to spend his time day-drinking with Herb, a foul-mouthed mechanic and neighbor, and loitering on city buses all afternoon. Even as the pressure from his boss mounts, he is drawn in by Lydia, sassy and happy-go-lucky, who urges him to actually enjoy his life for a change. As the CEO's deadline draws near, Julian must decide what really matters for him: the prestige of his corporate job, or a chance at being happy, even if he doesn't have a clue about what that really means. The Sparrow's Path is a meditative but comedic tale of millennials in urban, corporate society. A fun read for adults looking for a purpose but who don't quite have it all figured out.
