Timber Bowl Valley
Alice Younkin
The setting of Timber Bowl Valley is in the North Cascades of the state of Washington in an area surrounding the town of Darrington. White Horse Mountain, with its many moods, looks down upon this valley which was surrounded by timber-covered hills. Mrs. Younkin went there with her parents when she graduated from Auburn High School in June 1923. It was a near-wilderness area at that time. She has woven the simple, daily living of her life with that of her neighbors into a warm and friendly story.
