Loren Gannon, proprietor of a successful Chicago detective agency, is recovering from a gunshot wound when he is persuaded by an old friend to go under cover as a football coach in the struggling small town of Antelope. Loren soon finds himself immersed in numerous small town activities, but as dark secrets come bubbling up to the surface, Loren biggest fear is that the lively and clever woman he becoming more and more attracted to might actually be the villain his employer is looking for. This is bad news for a life-time loner like Loren, but when murder shatters the little community, he must put aside his own feelings and follow the trail...wherever it leads.
