Myrtle James Stump was a child during the late 1800s when people traveled by covered wagons, boats, and trains. There was only one telephone in her town that everyone shared. Her family grew their own food, hauled their drinking water from a spring, and washed their clothes in kettles in the yard. This book was compiled from some of Myrtle's journals, in which she described her family's journey in a covered wagon. It is a heartwarming, firsthand account of the people they met and the things they saw along the way.
