Deavereau and Lori start out with two clients which soon become entangled with each other. Murder takes place and no one knows why except the murderer. As Lori and Deavereau search for items their clients seek, more mystery unravels when the father of one of the clients shows up to find the same instrument that they have been searching for. Things get out of hand when an attempted kidnap of Lori fails and Deavereau discovers he needs her more that he contemplated.
