These are the selected accounts of David Darcy Dun of the Otago Infantry Regiment; Herbert Vivian Goodsir of the Otago Infantry Regiment; George Frederick Souness of the Otago Infantry Regiment; three brothers: Cecil William Stobie of the Canterbury Regiment; Gerald Leslie Stobie also of the Canterbury Regiment; and Geoffrey John Duncan Stobie of the Canterbury Regiment; George Dougall Tod of the Otago Infantry Regiment who served their country with honor in the Great War, the war to end all wars. Some of these men survived the horrors of the war while one perished. Follow their triumphs and defeats during the tumultuous years of the war and subsequently their lives after the war. This then is the narratives of the life and times of these New Zealand soldiers of the First World War.
