Cocooned in depression, David watches his life slip through his fingers as he fails to find the true meaning of his existence. His wife, distraught at the change she witnesses in him, agrees to have David sectioned into the district mental asylum. Is Dr Melthas, the senior psychiatrist at the hospital, administering drugs or is it hypnotism or is David simply losing his mind? David encounters visions of a young oriental boy with a broad smile and a wise old man full of laughter. Both go by the name of Li. They are one and the same and guide David back through the years of his life and help him to rediscover the path from which he has strayed.
