Danny James is an 11-year-old genius, particularly when it comes to talking his way out of any awkward situation. His confident and likeable nature means that he is rarely in trouble for long. But when an accident means he has to replace a broken vase, he finds he has to involve a new boy, Luke, in his madcap schemes.


That's when the trouble starts. No matter what Danny and Luke do, their quest only brings annoyed neighbours and angry parents their way. The boys quickly learn that it's a lot easier to make problems than it is to solve them.


Then, as Danny's ideas grow ever more desperate and risky, the two boys are met with a shock. Danny finds out that the charm he uses so successfully on people has no effect on the natural world, and that real danger is waiting for them on the weather-torn hills of Wales.


If the two friends can learn to work together, they might just get home again - but they will have to stop arguing first.
