Thousands of tourists would visit our nation's capital every year. They would travel from all over the world to marvel at the great wonders of our city and the main attractions of our great buildings and monuments. Watch while Congress was in session passing the laws of the land. Dominique Morton had walked among these thousands of tourists her entire life, such as her parents and their parents before them. She stood watching them snapping their camera in amazement at the White House, where she herself had visited so many times throughout her life. She had given directions to the famous Lincoln Theatre, sat beside them on the subway on her way to and from work. Engaging in small talk as they spoke of what part of the country they were from.
Dominique had always portrayed the proud Washingtonian that left a warm feeling in her heart. However, there was always this lingering dark shadow that hung over her fair city. Washington like herself led a double life. There were neighborhoods where the tourist would never visit, the Other side of DC.
