Churches and ministries in the urban core face daily challenges unfamiliar to many in traditional church settings. The communities in which they operate are plagued by increased levels of poverty, homelessness, addiction, and mental illness. Those who serve must learn to navigate these issues while being the hands and feet of Christ. While numerous books and studies address serving Christ, few take into consideration the special challenges associated with serving in the urban core. Divine Appointments builds on the real-life experience of servants at The Cornerstone Fellowship, a small church serving the urban core in northern Kentucky. The lessons presented here were developed to draw together a successful ministry team that combines lifelong Christians from traditional backgrounds, "prodigal" Christians who have recently re-discovered the plans GOD has for them, and new believers from the community being served.
