Captive
Valerie Michaels
Captive narrates the story of Elizabeth Kelley, who is sent to a concentration camp for hiding her friend, whom she believes is a Jew. She meets Derek von Vetter, the half-English, half-German, regular German Army officer assigned as camp commander. It serves as his punishment for hiding the identity of a Jewish family friend. Elizabeth does not want to trust Derek, but is unable to keep from falling in love with him.
"Captive will appeal to readers because it is a combination of historical fiction and a sensual love story," says Michaels. "It is graphic in some areas, but I want the story to be as realistic as possible."
She hopes readers will not only enjoy a different kind of story in "Captive," but for them to learn as well the lessons of history.
