We all, to a great extent, create our own realities and if we are blessed, we look back on our lives to find new lessons and ways of thinking. Indigenous peoples have long struggled, STILL struggle with the effects of colonization and loss of languages, culture and life ways. We survive and triumph over tragedy and suffering. We survive. Part of my survival and my healing was to search for and look back on the majick and Medicine amongst the tragedies and abuse, to see the joy amidst the sorrow and fear, to share them through writing. For me, this in no way minimizes the poverty, abuses, sorrows and losses colonization has wrought and continues to bring.

In today's complex and fast-moving world, many of us yearn for a time when things were simpler, when most folks had a clearer sense of right, wrong, and how to have good, clean fun. So, you are invited to settle in, find a comfy spot, and let's take a trip back in time, to a place where things were simpler, everyone knew their neighbors, most folks knew the difference between right and wrong, and I was learning to laugh, love and cry in the years I was Growing Up Heathen.
