While riding through the Kansas badlands, cowboy Clay Jared finds himself with a bullet in his back after killing three outlaws. Taking their bodies to the nearest town, Rattlesnake Flats, to collect the reward, he meets beautiful, idealistic Lauren Goodwin, a doctor from the East. Their lifestyles conflict and a love-hate relationship develop between them. Lauren hates violence and uses her hands to save people.
