Description of Cracked Spaces
Space is an abstract perception of the world around us. It evokes a sense of freedom and spaciousness, and it is defined by the human ability to move, by the spatial location of the body to objects. However, space is also a place where the shadow of reality dwells- the abstract perception of lived experiences. Space is filled with the unseen, like air and all that travels with it. To people living in the borderland desert, space is a place; it is home. Cracked Spaces draws from spaces of memory and its vastness to reconstruct a compact and straightforward narrative of poetry, rooted in geography, social justice, displacement, migration, and love, that informs a life of living in physical and construct borders. Within this space, the poetic voice moves, locating the cracks from which these poems emerge.
