Cholera ravages a riverboat bound for Fort Benton, Montana Territory and The gold fields beyond in 1865 forcing the stopping and quarantine in the wilderness of the Missouri River Breaks. Gold fever among the passengers forces the abandonment of a Jewish immigrant family. A subsequent murder results in the young son being orphaned and his destiny is reveled leading to becoming a Nez Perce shaman/healer.
