The History of Jordanville South Primary School
Jane Turton
On Friday July 10, 1953, Jordanville South Primary School began life under a different name and in a street that the Education Department had spelled incorrectly. An inauspicious start! This is a history of the ups and downs of a school which struggled against adversity, seeming to be almost 'neglected' or 'forgotten' at times by the Education Department. But with some outstanding teachers and Head Teachers, as well as the many dedicated parents who fund-raised continuously to buy much-needed equipment, they overcame the difficulties to create a school much loved by the students who attended.
