As a sickle cell sufferer living on Earth, Brandon never felt like he fit in. Living in a body plagued with chronic pains and being in a constant state of fatigue, alienated him from his peers that just couldn't understand his plight.

That's why he always dreamed of leaving Earth and exploring the Milky Way. Joining the Alliance space marine program was the cheapest ticket off of the planet. After exhausting his efforts to become the best space marine he could be, Brandon was made Sergeant at the young age of 20. But his superiors still see him as a liability because of his physical limitations.

When Brandon is assigned on a mission to locate missing Alliance marines, he soon finds himself lost in the magical world of Relaun, where he bumps into a superior marine named, Jonathan Flurwick. Flurwick has gone rogue and is seeking a way to uncover his lost magical powers and return to the Milky Way to overthrow the Galactic Alliance.

Brandon must endure the pain and gather enough support to thwart Flurwick's wicked scheme, all while adjusting to a new realm full of magic that he never knew existed.
