Cassie and the Carrow
Winston Baldwin
Cassandra, that is Cassie is a nine year old girl who lives with her parents and baby brother on their family farm. Quite often she can be seen riding in the spare seat of her father's tractor with just a mass of blonde hair just sticking up above the windscreen.
Early one June evening Cassie was by the river waiting for her father. She listened to what was being said by the tall trees and river. There she met the ghost of a soldier and his girlfriend.
All through the summer, Cassie talks to the trees and river and is shown some events from the river's history. The river communicates with Cassie, they become friends.
Has Cassie got an overactive imagination, an ability to communicate with the river or is she caught in a time slip? That is for the reader to decide. Cassie would tell you herself if she had the words.
