Amelia Vassal, the youngest of two sisters and so ordinary in her ways, dumpy, not caring about fashion or anything like that is in complete contrast to her more glamorous sister. Louise, beautiful with an hourglass figure and an ability to walk over anyone in her path treats her sister abysmally taking every opportunity to deride her. They become very wealthy and then Amelia falls in love with the man next door. Louise intervenes to ruin everything for her and turns Henry Coster's head. When he dumps her she frames him for the murder of his wife. He dies in prison and then a strange man moves in next door and starts to dig a hole big enough for two bodies in the garden. They see the man as an ex-lifer pal of Henry's out to wreak revenge on his behalf, but the action they take throws up surprising results...
