First published in 1960 by the National Playing Fields Association (now 'Fields in Trust'), 'Adventure Playgrounds - A Progress Report' provides accounts of the development of six different adventure playgrounds across the UK: Lollard (London), Grimsby, Romford, Rathbone Street (Liverpool), Southmead (Bristol) and St. John's Wood (London). The booklet provided details of the administration, financing and running of these different projects with the aim of supporting the development of new adventure playgrounds. In doing so it offers a rich source of material for those interested in the history of adventure playgrounds, playwork, children's play and childhood.
