The Bi-National Red Sea Marine Peace Park Glen Segell
The Bi-National Red Sea Marine Peace Park
Glen Segell
This report describes the Bi-national Red Sea Marine Peace Park showing it as a possible option for a Peace Park in the Han River Estuary, Korea. The peace process between the Kingdom of Jordan and the State of Israel was significant, involving multi-lateral, tri-lateral, and bi-lateral negotiations that culminated in a treaty in September 1994. This provided the right opportunity for resource managers, scientists, institutions, non-governmental organizations, and private interests to meet together to discuss research and monitoring needs directed at maintaining or improving the health of the coral reef ecosystems. One measure for extending the olive branch of peace was creating a bi-national marine park adjacent to the countries' common border in the Red Sea.
