They thought he was dead. Then Vic's friend O warns her. The man isn't dead and he is out for revenge among other things. When hired hoodlums seriously injure Vic's friend, Lin Li, Vic goes after a little revenge of her own. While stalking one enemy, Vic runs across a vicious enemy that people say is a demon from hell. Vic irritates the thing and now it is after her. The body count gets high and it isn't all bad guys.

Vic learns lessons about reprisal for reprisal's sake. A young mother helps Vic learn that even the most horrific deeds may sometimes be inspired by equally heinous deeds against the innocent. Sometimes evil deserves a bullet. Sometimes what seems evil deserves a voice and forgiveness. Like all Vic Challenger novels and life, this one is unpredictable. Just remember the old saying, it ain't over 'til it's over.
