Vic's editor thinks she hasn't done enough swashbuckling lately, so when Vic runs across an old article about a man-eating tree in Madagascar, it's a go! She figures the story isn't true, but just the search will make a few good articles. She can get photos of cute little lemurs, too. Maybe hunt crocodiles on the coast, She can eat local and write about that. And she feels, certainly, she will meet some colorful characters to write about. Vic is correct on every count - sort of. Plus there are a few other surprises. Death comes calling even before she arrives and it keeps on her trail like a hungry fox in a chicken pen.
