'Inspiration: The Brain, Imagination and Creative Practice' introduces three aspects of cognition - the provision of possibilities, the processing of associative patterns, and the composition of creative outcomes. To engage the imagination I demonstrate that a cognitive reversal must take place in which rational thought serves the imaginative process, characterized as a state of suspense, or 'not knowing'. Creative practice involves three stages - identification, transference, and transformation. The three stages of creative practice have a correspondence with three aspects of imaginative brain function. The medium I employ to model this process is the theatre.
