Going to work, counseling the kids at the local middle school just outside of the town of Maroon, then going home to an empty apartment. She barely scrapes by from month to month. Her only treat to herself is having Sunday dinner at the diner down the street and indulging in a slice of homemade pie. She doesn't need or want much of anything until he walks in and saddles up next to her at the bar for a cup of coffee to go. Everything screams at her to stay away but she can't.
