He was born in Warsaw in 1921, here he attended schools. In 1942, he married Barbara Drabczy?ska. The poet became a soldier in the "Parasol" battalion of the Home Army. He fought in the Warsaw Uprising and died, wounded with a bullet on the 4th of August 1944. His wife died three weeks later. His figure and poems are the legend of Polish literature and history.
