The Sensible Universe aims to show that the universe is sensible in two senses-it can be apprehended by the senses, and it makes sense. It begins with looking at how we know. The basic features of science and of several of the important fields of science are examined to show how they make sense of the universe. This is contrasted with Antiscience, junk science, pathological science and pseudoscience, the paranormal, occult, the supernatural and other non-scientific ways of looking at things, which are certainly not sensible. It is argued that religion (of all forms) is also not sensible. Science is also shown to inform medicine and, to a lesser extent, economics. Ethics, philosophy, culture and the humanities and education are examined as fields where a strict application of the scientific method may not always be appropriate but logical thinking is essential if conclusions are to be at all sensible. A final chapter seeks to answer the question: Does life have a meaning?
