In future an automatic detection system would be required to detect explosives that may be placed at any public place by the terrorists. By using nanosensors these explosive materials can be detected up to the longer distances in real time as compared to those sensors are in used today. A system is needed to develop to monitor real time data by the sensor and send to the processor which processes the data and compares with the database and the processor allowed people to take shelter in case of the presence of active device by activate the alarm. The systems which are in operation today are very expensive, not highly sensitive and use more power. In this paper sensors are described coated with chemical compounds that are frequently used in explosives. These sensors can be used in mobiles or in other inbuilt communication unit which can be used to communicate to the nearby nodes. These sensors consumes very little power, which makes it suitable for running off of thin-film batteries or solar cells and the cost of these sensors is very much less compared to sensors used in current system. The proposed automatic explosive detection system automatically detects the IED without any human intervention. There are many advantages with the proposed system when compared with the traditional detection techniques. The advantages include less cost, low power consumption and less analysis time. By this proposed system the exact location of the IED can easily located which will deactivated immediately so that many lives can be saved.
