Jesus promised us that He would send the Holy Spirit, and then described what He would do: "When he comes, he will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment" (John 16:8). This conviction cannot be replaced by persuasive arguments, eloquent sermons, cleverly laid out gospel tracts, or any other manmade ministry method. Indeed, there is only one thing that can bring a lost sinner to Christ or can reclaim the backslider in heart: the conviction of the Holy Spirit.
