In 1958 Phoenix Arizona jobs are scarce for a widowed mother. Desperate for money, she goes on the road to look for work and sends her two teenage sons to live with her brother whom she doesn't know is a sadistic, abusive, alcoholic. Daniel and his brother Jason unknowingly become victims due to their mother's inability to keep a job.
