This is the first part of the lengthy work known as the same as the title; the first part ends before the PIlgrim begins his journey with Grace Dieu to visit Jerusalem and must make the Perilous Passage through an odious trek that will meet him with Deadly Sin Personified. In this part, he encounters the Dame Grace Dieu who establishes herself as his guide and he also establishes the manner of his desire to make a Pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
