Langar with Deep Kaur and Adamo Experience Sikhi Organization

Join Deep Kaur and her friend Adamo at the Gurduara as they prepare food for Langar, a free community kitchen run by Sikhs. This bilingual English/Punjabi picture book follows these two friends as they share the sweet message about finding common ground and bringing people together through food. They realize that although they have different backgrounds, they are not so different after all. The activities at the end of the book will help children learn the names of various dishes that are served in Langar. The Sikh religion is the fifth-largest organized religion in the world after Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and, Buddhism, and the fourth largest in India with 25-30 million adherents worldwide. When this bilingual English/Punjabi book is flipped over, children can read the same story and follow the vibrant illustrations in Punjabi. This helps to improve Punjabi vocabulary for Western-born children who may struggle to speak, read and write Punjabi.
