People are disappearing from America's National Parks. Rick Minor is one of those people. On the first night of a whirlwind tour of Utah's Mighty Five, with his closest friends Matthew Conrad, a university research assistant and Dianne Chambers, an environmental activist, Rick wandered away from camp and vanished without a trace. Matt and Dianne must join the hunt, but the standard work of search and rescue teams will not be enough. The clues Matthew stumbles on appear to point to the impossible. When a stranger emerges, issuing cryptic warnings and pointing in directions Matthew would never think to look, it becomes clear there are powerful forces at work.
