The Seven Difficult Truths of Emotional Recovery

What is emotional health?"When I asked this question of each of my many therapists, I never received a satisfactory answer. None could put a simple, workable definition into words and all but one of them thought that emotional health was a relative term, reflecting a concept that differed from person to person. In fact, all of them used the word "cope" instead of "cure."Through my journey I came to know the definition of emotional health. Simply put, a person is emotionally healthy when his or her emotions are vehicles for participating in life, not just coping with it. Emotionally healthy people accept that all emotions - love, hate, sadness, joy, peace, worry, anger and grief - are all part of a healthy human psyche."
