When her arch-nemesis, Felicia, is found dead, Lake Lewis believes that all her problems are solved. She won't be bullied anymore by the evil queen bee of her high school and she may finally be able to talk to her crush, said dead girl's ex-boyfriend. But when she finds a note from Felicia saying that she found out that Lake's mom didn't commit suicide years ago, and that her knowledge might get her killed, Lake's world is turned upside down. To make matters worse, Ryder Frost, school bad boy and son of the town sheriff, finds the letter and gives her two options; she can either search for Felicia's killer and go on a date with him, or he'll tell his father that Lake's connected to Felicia's death. With no other option but to give in to Ryder's demands, Lake is forced to look for Felicia's killer, only to find that Felicia had secrets most of which weren't her own.
