It is late in 2004, and Frank Davenport needs a job, so he accepts a position with a small defense contractor on a military base in Iraq. As Frank enters the Iraq theater, Case Hammer, who is the CEO of that defense contractor, is separately negotiating to sell his company. He wants to join the one percent. But before he does, his friends at the CIA need his assistance with one last deal. On the hunt for Jamal Ali, the Al Qaeda chief financial officer, the Agency learns that the CFO's sister, Derya Ali, is involved with Hammer's company in a massive skimming operation. Hammer's local base management is getting rich, shaking down suppliers in the middle of a war. Derya wants her share of the proceeds from that criminal enterprise for her brother in order to fund terrorism worldwide. The CIA is playing a dangerous game with military assets in a war zone. They are using Hammer's company to lure Derya's brother into the open where they plan to kill him. Hammer needs to deliver on that one last deal and close the sale - without going to jail. And Frank doesn't want to take the fall for all of the graft and corruption that he finds. Sandbox Capitalism: Creating Shareholder Value - At the Point of a Gun deals with the insanity of war-for-profit. This fiction novel should be a fun if provocative read for those who want a different look at the Iraq War, from a contractor perspective.
