The minute I was born, the minute my gender was recorded. I was defined by the box that was checked. If my gender wasn't defined for me, would my life be different? Sixth grader Tri Sherman doesn't want to be defined by gender. When the local school board rezones several schools within the county, Tri seizes the opportunity and forges the paperwork gaining acceptance into a new school, and thus, hatches a plan for the reveal of a new identity; T Sherman: sometimes as a girl, sometimes as a boy, and sometimes neither. What seems to be a simple plan sets off a chain of events and Tri discovers that it's your actions, not "labels" that define you.
