A letter mailed with a safety deposit box key reveals a possible terrorist threat and provides Dane with pieces of information that focus on targets that could, at a minimum, devastate power and water supplies throughout the southwest, potentially level Las Vegas, and incapacitate the Air Force's prestigious warfare center. Opening the box at the bank starts him on a 48-hour race to stay alive and gather enough facts to foil a plan by a world power to commit international terrorism and blame the attack on a Middle Eastern group.

Fortunately, Dane has contacts who can help open some very important doors, including Mary Johnston and her friends who have helped law enforcement with psychic profiles in high stakes cases. The new South Carolina governor--whose mother's death was Dane's first case as police chief--also lends his support and influence, but even with help, can Dane convince authorities to listen and act in time to prevent an epic disaster on American soil?
