Mr. Joab's Will
Sonny Clanton
A frugal, old man with no known heirs dies a lonely, tragic death in a freak snowstorm in a rural area of the South. Although he had lived a reclusive life, his community had secretly discovered that he had been making large anonymous cash donations to a distant charity hospital. After his death, neither his will nor his wealth can be located. As he lay dying, Joab McMath left a dim clue to his hidden treasure's location. Deputy Sheriff Wade Sumrall, aided by Archie Baker, a loathsome lawyer, begins a relentless search for Joab McMath's money. They, with the aid of an ex-con, and an array of colorful characters, pursue a series of thin clues. A copy of the will is found first. A questionable heir then appears, represented by a greedy law firm, and the will is contested before the unknown fortune is located. Wade's journey takes him through a series of courtroom battles, bar fights, strip clubs, clandestine military activity, and dueling law firms to an astounding treasure with a tainted past.
