Quake is the second collection of poetry by Columbus, Ohio based writer Pete Stroup. The followup to Sex and Destruction follows Stroup as a constant observer, learning husband, reckless spirit and reformed pessimist. Scaling back the argumentative nature of his original work, Stroup digs into his past in order to make sense of the present. Dealing with themes of living with epilepsy, success and failure, and how love can survive in a time of diminished mental health. Stroup continues to build his collection of work, focusing on all things self improvement. Poetry can be alienating and embracing, writing can be cleansing and messy, seizures can be painful and captivating, Quake aims to capture all of this.
