Rohlin, a thief by trade, is blackmailed by three ethereal mystics into stealing the Sacred Writ, an ancient book which holds the power of ages within. As the Mystic's plan succeeds, a Phoenix is unleashed on the land of Ambirlyn, bringing about the premature Armageddon of the world. While the world is torn apart, and thrust into war, a young man named Trigger searches for revenge on the one who destroyed his home.
