Poetry Is Fun Gloria Jainchill

Poetry is Fun and helps us grieve. Expressing ourselves through verse and rhyme touches our hearts and emotions. I wrote this book with my granddaughter, Amber, to help her process the closing down of Eastbury Elementary School in Glastonbury, CT. I wrote seven of the poems and Amber wrote the rest during her second grade studies on poetry. It was a fun project and I learned so much about Amber's little heart, her hopes and her dreams during the time we worked together. One day driving Amber to wherever we had to go, she asked me, "Grandma, do you know why I am so quiet?." I thought about how silent the ride had been for the last five minutes, backed away from my own lost thoughts and responded, "No, Amber, why have you been so quiet?" Amber's response 'bout made me cry. "Because I am reading your poetry book Grandma." I had written and published my first poetry book in 2017, Love Shines In Darkness under my maiden name. I would love to see more children open their hearts and souls to the lyrical sounds of poetry. This is what I hope this poetry book, Poetry Is Fun, does, open more hearts and spirits and souls to their inner beauty, their worth, their giftedness to this world. Happy poetry and song writing!
