Gertrud Gölz (Beckmann) born in 1928 in East-Prussia, in Ponarth the suburb of the City of Königsberg. As sixth child - of total of 9 children - she lived the very difficult times where her family had been exposed to massive repressions of the nazis due to her father Leopold Beckmann being a lutheran protestant priest belonging to the "declarative church" (bekennende Kirche) and refusing to give up against the increasing political pressure which also existed within the church. During the turbulent times of World War II - finally the family was forced to escape - without their father, who saw himself obliged to continue to service his community who until then had constantly support himself and his family. The memories of Gertrud Gölz geb. Beckmann at this time are supplemented by photos of the family, as well as documents that were kept to the family, and reports on the church struggle in East Prussia.
