Marybel Cantu
Marybel created this book in honor of her parents and yet, with her children and grandchildren in mind. She claims, "I believe as a Mexican American, there is so much history from our ancestors, but not enough is written. When our elders leave us, so do their stories. That is why I write. This is a book where every chapter is an anecdote of our lives that readers of all ages will enjoy." The first half of the book is told of her parents' lives as migrants, the second of hers. November 5th: An Autobiography from the Rio Grande runs like the Rio Grande River that divides Mexico and the United States. It tells the stories of Marybel's ancestors and then, or hers, the first generation United States citizen of the Perez family.
