The Forgotten Poet
Uncle Bill Wheeless
Unknown and largely un-honored in his day the poet W. O. Wheeless saw poetry in everything around him. Tragedy bestowed upon him this gift. In one year he lost his small daughter, his beloved wife and all his earthly possessions in the Texas hurricane of 1915. Ten years later his 17 year old daughter died and his son abandoned him. He turned to writing and continued until his death at 82 years old in Texas City, Texas. This collection of poems was recovered and formatted by his nephews.
