Keeping my commitment to God to remain celibate until marriage wasn't as difficult as battling the bouts of intense loneliness. I had done everything I knew to prepare for my future husband...read books, articles and devotionals, listened to sermons and podcasts, fasted, prayed continually, and studied God's Word daily. Still, my husband was seemingly nowhere in sight. After 11 months of intentional celibacy, I was not easily flattered by kind words or sweet gestures. But when an alluring gentleman commented on one of my "Dear Future Husband" Facebook posts, an intriguing dialogue continued in my inbox. During our first conversation, Mr. Martin asked me to meet him for dinner that night; I agreed to go. After talking about our dreams, goals, fears, likes, dislikes, and so much more, we walked out of the restaurant. Neither wanted the night to end; it had been so perfect. Under the brightly lit moon, he hugged me ever so gently before parting ways. There was no mention of whether we would see each other, or even talk-again, but something in my heart confirmed that he was the one.
