Nelson E. Brown is a sociology student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in Catonsville, Maryland. He has served as one of the writers, artists, and editors of the Community College of Baltimore County's literary magazine, Fine Print, and as the secretary of the Project Spark Success Team from 2017-2019. He has received his Associates of Arts degree from CCBC. He has received numerous awards for his community service and academic achievements and he has been recognized locally and nationally. In addition to being a student, he was employed at the Maryland Department of the Environment under the Land & Materials Administration's Lead Poisoning Prevention program from 2016-2020. He is completing his Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. He self-published his first book, The Beauty In Us: Our Reality, on August 2, 2018 and he self-published his second book, The Beauty In Us: Vulnerable43Masculinity, on February 12, 2020. He completed his training as a Small Groups Facilitator in the spring of 2019 and he has received his first Author of the Year award from the 2019 Newsome Gospel Music Awards and his first Male Author of the Year award from the2020 Newsome Gospel Music Awards. He is the host of The Beauty In Us Radio on Awesome God Radio where he uses his voice to talk about subjects that matter from the perspective of young, black men. Tune in every Tuesday from 6-7pm as he and his guests dive deep into topics related to mental illness, the Christian faith, toxic masculinity, financial literacy, education, family values, pop culture, and so much more.
